Chief Operating Officer, S&P Dow Jones Indices
Richard Gallagher is Chief Operating Officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI), responsible for all operational and administrative aspects of the business as well as managing the execution of the medium-range business plan. Key areas of responsibility are strategy implementation and support, staffing levels, risk assessment, efficiency of index production process, quality control and disaster recovery.
Previously, Rich served as regional head of finance, Asia Pacific, for Standard & Poor's in Tokyo, Japan where he was responsible for financial and operational management across the Asia Pacific region including CRISIL and Taiwan Ratings Corporation. Prior to that, Rich served as global head of finance for Standard & Poor's Portfolio Services business in New York.
Prior to joining Standard & Poor's in 2005, Rich worked at D&B in finance and business development roles within their Asia-Pacific, Canada, and Latin America division before joining Schering-Plough, where he held various positions in finance in Singapore and the United States.
Rich holds a bachelor’s in Japanese and Asian studies from the University of Oregon, and an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University.
