S&P Global Platts is publishing one new daily Supramax dry bulk grains freight assessment and two new time charter equivalents, reflecting the growing trade for grains from South America to the Mediterranean, effective Nov. 2, 2020.
The freight assessment and time charter equivalents reflect market rates for an increasingly liquid trade route as trans-Atlantic grains exports from South America comprise a larger proportion of the Supramax dry freight sector. The new routes round out Platts' Supramax time charter equivalent coverage, and complement its existing suite of dry freight TCEs.
The TCE assessments reflect the $/day pricing derived from the voyage rate published on the new $/mt assessment in Dry Freight Wire.
The assessments are:
GARAC00 DBF Grain Recalada Argentina-Bejaia Algeria 40kt $/mt Supramax
GARAB00 DBF Grain Recalada Argentina-Bejaia Algeria 40kt (Scrubber-Fitted) TCE $/day Supramax
GARAA00 DBF Grain Recalada Argentina-Bejaia Algeria 40kt 0.5% TCE $/day Supramax
The assessments are based on modern Supramax tonnage and reflect the cost of transporting a 40,000 mt (plus/minus 10%) grains cargo on a 57,000 dwt Supramax dry bulk vessel from delivery port to loading port and then to discharge port and are published on a dollar per day and dollar per metric ton basis.
