SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes new Singapore-Australia 35,000 mt clean tanker assessment

S&P Global Platts proposes to launch a new Singapore to Australia Clean Medium Range tanker assessment, effective April 2, 2018.

Platts has observed the Singapore to Australia MR clean tanker route being predominantly fixed basis a cargo size of 35,000 mt.

The upgrade of ports and terminals in Australia -- ongoing as well as completed -- has enabled vessels to discharge larger cargo volumes, with most MRs currently moving 35,000 mt parcels from Singapore to Australia.

Over 90% of the Singapore-Australia MR fixtures tracked over the last year have been concluded basis 35,000 mt, according to fixture data tracked by Platts.

Separately, Platts proposes to discontinue the current Singapore-Australia 30,000 mt assessment from January 2, 2019.
