India's Solar Energy Corp to issue ONGC tenders for renewable hydrogen projects in 2022

Government body Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd plans to issue tenders for renewable hydrogen projects on behalf of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd by mid-2022, a SECI official said Dec. 10.

"There will be substantial demands from ONGC for hydrogen... within two to three quarters we will be coming out with tenders and solutions for the company," Sanjay Sharma, executive director (solar), SECI said.

The tenders would be for renewable hydrogen, Sharma said. No further details were available.

ONGC has signed a memorandum of understanding with SECI to undertake solar, wind, green hydrogen, storage and electric vehicle value chain projects, ONGC said in a statement Dec. 3.

It has a target of producing at least 10 GW of renewable power by 2040 while continuing its focus on exploration and production of hydrocarbons, ONGC said.

SECI is to assist the company in fulfilling the renewable goals for its refineries and other subsidiaries, Sharma said.

S&P Global Platts assessed New South Wales hydrogen produced via coal gasification with CCS, including CAPEX at A$3.65/kg Dec. 9, down 0.27% from Nov. 9.

South Australia hydrogen produced via alkaline electrolysis was assessed at A$1.18/kg Dec. 9, down 50.42% from Nov. 9.
