Week 11 averaged 60 GW, lowest in six weeks
69 GW year-to-date average up 15 GW on year
Wind set to rebound this week: spotrenewables.com
London — European wind power generation hit a six-week low last week to average 60 GW, after setting all-time highs in February, data aggregated by WindEurope showed Monday.
Output in Week 11 (ending March 8) eased 25% week on week after an extended period of record wind conditions, with Week 11 also below Week 11 in 2019, which set the previous all-time-high, the data aggregated from national grid operators show.
Wind is forecast to rebound this week across Northwest Europe, with spotrenewables.com forecasting German wind to average 28 GW from a 16 GW average last week.
German spot power averaged above Eur30/MWh last week for the first time in six weeks after record wind in February pushed the day-ahead average below Eur22/MWh (down 47% year on year), exchange data show.
Weeks 12 and 13 were trading above Eur30/MWh after this week's dip, EEX data show.
There was 205 GW of wind turbine capacity installed across Europe by end-2019 after 15 GW was added last year, WindEurope data show.
European wind averaged 69 GW in the year to date, up 15 GW year on year, generating some 113 TWh of electricity.
